Meet Kathy
Kathy was an educator for 41 years with M. A. degrees in Home Economics/Family Studies and Early Childhood Education. She didn’t compete in High School or college sports. At 32 she took up jogging for physical fitness and found, after entering local races, she consistently placed and often won. She also joined a bicycle club and led an American Youth Hostel tour from New York City to Montreal, Canada.
Kathy began her Triathlon experience at age 57 after she took up swimming as a therapy following surgery. Still a competitive amateur runner at the time (USATF ranked her the 17th fastest woman, all ages, in New Jersey) she needed low-impact activity to stay fit.
Without much preparation, she entered the New Jersey Danskin Triathlon, struggled through the swim, raced with her touring bike (complete with pannier racks), and had a great run to finish first in her age group. She was hooked.
She has since won a Gold Medal at ITU’s Age Group World Finals in Chicago in 2015 plus a Silver at ITU World Finals in Hamburg, Germany, in 2023 and a second Gold Medal at the 2024 ITU World Finals in Spain. She has won gold in USAT Age Group National Championships in Milwaukee in 2015, in Omaha in 2017, in Cleveland in 2019, a second time in Milwaukee in 2023, and Atlantic City in 2024.
Kathy’s extensive experience combines with her understanding of the daunting prospects facing a newcomer to triathlon. From choosing a Triathlon kit, setting up your transition area, or equipping your bike, Kathy will give you guidance. For an experienced Triathlon athlete, Kathy is ready to show you how to strengthen and train for your personal-best results.
